Ryan Lawson is an insurance-defense attorney specializing in the defense of employers, insurers, and third-party administrators (TPAs) with a particular focus on defense of workers’ compensation claims. In addition to his robust workers’ compensation defense practice, Ryan also defends employers involved in complex litigation involving occupational injuries and hazards, O.S.H.A. disputes, and litigation arising from the O.S.H.A. Whistle-blower Protection Act. Ryan actively counsels, advises, advocates for, and litigates on behalf of, companies and organizations ranging from local businesses to multi-national organizations and conglomerates, and prides himself on a history of efficient, dedicated, and results-oriented client service.
Ryan has represented clients before every Administrative Law Judge on the Georgia Workers’ Compensation Bench, advanced the interests of his clients before the Appellate Division of the State Board of Workers’ Compensation, and successfully handled numerous Appeals to the Superior Courts and the Georgia Court of Appeals. Ryan has a strong record in the courtroom, and has won numerous cases on behalf of his clients in jurisdictions all over the State of Georgia. Additionally, Ryan has advanced and defended his client’s interests at Oral Arguments on countless occasions, successfully defended numerous expert depositions, prosecuted and defended hundreds of lay-depositions, and obtained many value-added settlements through Alternative Dispute Resolution avenues.
Outside of his work in the courtroom, Ryan spends his professional time teaching and writing, and has been honored to be invited to teach on various topics at several national insurance companies and third-party administrators at locations all over the Southeast, including seminars in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Alabama. Ryan’s published work primarily focuses on the practical application of the Georgia Workers’ Compensation Act, as well as the interplay between the Georgia Workers’ Compensation Act and outside federal and state employment regulations, and includes articles and treasies on topics ranging from defense of workers’ compensation cases involving Cardiac Pathology to an analysis of updated O.S.H.A. regulations and their impact on post-accident drug screen protocols.
